What happens first? I can't remember...

in 3rd Trimester

Do you dilate and efface before the baby drops? or the other way around? 

 I can't seem to remember how it works, and for some reason, I think it is different with second + pregnancies.  Does anyone know?

    Im pretty sure it depends...My friend was dilated and effaced and her baby never dropped, but sometimes baby dropping will cause you to dialte and efface...

    There is no special order. 

    With both my kids I went in in labor and triage looked at me and thought I would get sent home because I hadn't dropped (that i wasnt actually in labor not *just* because of dropping), but both times I was 100% effaced and 5cm.

    as pp said - doesnt matter. plus for 2nd + mom's you can drop at the end or in labour.
