I just started taking a vitamin but it's for what the other comment says- to try and prevent defects like spina bifida. Folic acid seems to be the very most important - it's suggested that you take 400 mg.
I wanted a vitamin that had the recommended 400 mg of Folic acid & not more than 100% of any other nutrient so I went with Flinstone's Complete! I saw a lot of women on these boards recommended it versus the "horse pill."
I think you'd need to see an OB for any hormone changes.
Re: vitamins or supplements?
Vitamins or supplements don't help with hormone levels, and won't help you get pregnant.
Multivitamins with folic acid can help cut the risk of neural tube defects (eg, spina bifida)
Studies have shown that taking prenatal vitamins up to a year before conception can lower the risk of preterm labor
