Pregnant after a Loss

Not sure if movement...or gas?

And it's driving me crazy!

Also, FI was recently told by his mother (who he doesn't talk to and he only talked to her this time because he ran into her at McDonald's) that he was a 12.3 lb baby and was almost or just over 2 ft long, he also held a record at the hospital he was born at and probably still does. Please don't take after Daddy LO, Mommy is rather small.

Re: Not sure if movement...or gas?

  • Pretty sure if you're 18 weeks already, it's probably movement....I've been feeling the exact same thing for a like a week or so and it feels just like gas bubbles down in my ute.

Also, just a thought.....my mom and I were talking about it, and I was 10lbs 1 oz when I was born.....my mom is pretty sure she had gestational diabetes with me, but back then they didnt really know much about it or diagnose it.. If that's the case, that could be why he was so big if his mom had that and didn't know about it...then you'd have less of a chance of having a large baby!

  • It's probably the baby!  Gas, at least mine, usually has a "finale."  That's how I was able to tell the difference early on.  Also, LO's movements were few and far between at 18 weeks and more rhythmic than gas.
  • I'd say baby! By now, your intestines are no longer in the front of your body (from what I understand anyways), and so if it's in the fore-front of your abdomen, I'd for sure think baby.

Mine felt similar at first, too, (first felt baby at 18w6d), and I finally knew it was baby b/c it felt like a balloon popping in the exact same spot; and it happened like 2-3 times immediately in a row. Then about an hour or so later, I felt more in the exact same spot. So it kind of confirmed it. :)

  • The way I know if it's gas or the baby moving is that if it's gas, I will soon fart right after I felt the gas.  (lol)

If it's the baby, I'll just feel him move and nothing happens after that (as in nothing happens at the end of my digestive system)Smile

  • I guess it's movement since nothing comes from the feeling lol. It's like bubbles but they just come and go occasionally right now can't wait till I get further along :)

Yikes!  Just remember, this baby has 1/2 your genes too, so it may be perfectly average sized, or even a little small!
