Pregnant after a Loss

subchorionic hematoma & exercise

Does anyone else have a hematoma? It was explained to me as a type of bruise in the uterus that will leak blood from time to time. I've definitely had some dark bleeding ?and they tell me it's probably from this, but my Dr. also told me no exercising till I stop bleeding. So I don't want to do anything strenious, aerobics or running, I want to start going to the gym soon. With the freezing cold weather here in MA, all I have been doing is lying around the house and I'm starting to feel like a loaf. Does anyone have similar issue and still do low strenious exercise? Can I walk on the treadmill, stair master or lifting light weights? I'm also on Lovenox (blood thinner) and was told this by my fertility Dr, don't have an OB yet. I haven't had any real bleeding in a few weeks now, just light spotting.

TIA?

Re: subchorionic hematoma & exercise

  • I have one, started heavily bleeding 2 weeks ago. Was also told NO exercising and put on bed rest. My bleeding has stopped and the following weekend I went shopping all day long and my bleeding started again. My RE told me again no exercise not even a day out shopping like that!

At my last RE appt last Friday I asked if I could go to the gym and he asked what sort of exercise I did. I told him eliptical and light jogging on treadmill. He told me give it two more weeks and if I have NO Spotting or bleeding I can start light walking outside but no treadmill. I didn't get to ask why and wonder why to this day.

I know sitting inside sucks but it beats the alternative of bleeding and wondering if everything is okay in there. KWIM?

  • I had one with my first pregnancy around 7 1/2 weeks.  My RE had me on strict bedrest for 10 days because of it.  He said that in order for it to heal I had to really not do any activity at all.  So I was on bedrest and was only allowed up to go to the bathroom.  It did heal after the 10 days of bedrest.  If it was me, I would not go go the gym at all or do any exercise right now.
  • I had one earlier this pregnancy.  I followed my OB's direction - NO exercise, NO sex and no lifting anything heavier than a milk jug.  I was cleared a few weeks later but still didn't do anything strenuous.  I was not about to lose another baby due to this!
  • ok ladies, apparently I will continue to be fat and lazy. I have another appt on Tues so hopefull this thing will be almost gone.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • Don't think of it as being fat and lazy...you are taking care of your baby in there!
