AW: birth story!!

Saturday morning at 10:29 a.m., I gave birth to my beautiful baby girl named Carlyn Sue. She weighed 5.0 lbs and is 17 inches long. Here name is derived from Carlin meaning "little champion" and we felt that after everything this little girl has been through, it's very fitting. I will try and make my story short and sweet!   I had my 36 week appt on Thursday and she was measuring 2 weeks behind. From my last growth scan at 34 weeks, it showed see hadn't gained any weight in two weeks. After many discussions with the doctors we decided to have the c-section earlier since tests shown that being on the outside would be the most beneficial to her.   Meeting with the anesthesiologist was probably the most overwhelming part of the entire day. I read up on c/s and thought I was somewhat prepared, but getting absolutely no sleep the night before had me very foggy and I started crying with information overload. Once I got into the operating room, they had me set up with plenty of warming blankets so that helped with the comfort level as the room is extremely cold. The operation itself went well. Once Carlyn was out, we heard her cry and seen she had some great weight on her so that was an amazing sense of relief.   She was taken to NICU because of an accelerated heart rate. Because she is on oxygen, she is unable to be fed from a bottle because of chocking hazards, a feeding tube was placed . Her heart rate is now stable but now she is not taking to the nipple. She will not be able to leave the NICU until she eats on her own.   The hardest part is not having her by my side. We were not allowed to hold her for over 16 hours which has been the most difficult part. I've only seen her a few times because I'm pretty restricted because of my incision leaking badly and did become extremely sick from the pain medication so that has been the worst part of the c/s. I graduated from the drip pain meds and now taking the oral. I was barely in pain the first day but the second day I'm pretty sore but the pain is very tolerable. Keep Carlyn in your prayers so she can graduate from the NICU soon!
