Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Just put my early riser back to sleep and it worked...

DD always wakes around 5:30 -- often she babbles for a bit and we get her up at 6. But since she goes to bed at 7:30 and wakes 2 times to eat she only gets a max of 9 hours of sleep and I think she needs 10.  Prior attempts to feed her at 6 and put her back failed.

Today, it worked.  Maybe only today but I'm going to try it for a whole week and see if it works again.  I realize that means she wakes 3 times (11/3/5) if we consider 5:30 or 6 still night.  But it seems better to put her back to bed then to wake her and keep her up an hour and then have her take a 7am nap.

Maybe, just maybe, we can encourage her to sleep on her own till 7.  That would be glorious.  And since we're up at 5:30 anyway it actually doesn't mess up my sleep.

  • DD usually will sleep 7-7 with a few wakings to eat. If she wakes up between 6:30-7 she may or may not go back to sleep. For sure no diaper change at that time and I get up as soon as I hear her to feed her before she is wide awake.

  • I'm actually doing the opposite with my early riser this morning.

I usually bring her to bed with me and try to get her back to sleep. I decided to try just being up for the day when she woke up at 6.

She still fell back to sleep around 7. (just like she does if we stay in bed) oh well.

Good luck with your lo. Hopefully they'll learn that the day doesn't start before 7 :)
