He says to me today, I'm not doing anything in there until March!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AYFKM!!! March!!!!!! I'm due April 3!!!!! I said, ummmm honey just because I'm due April 3 doesn't mean the baby can't come 3 weeks early. I told him it needed to be done by the shower which is Jan. 25. And we don't even have to do much, it is already painted, we need to put a new closet organizer in, get a new closet door, put a chair rail up and that is about it. Well, we need to set the furniture up, but that is easy. Oh and we need to find somewhere for our collection of junk the room is holding right now to go which most likely will be into the trash. It would literally take us 2 weekends to get it done, if that.
Why do guys think they can just wait until the last minute for stuff??? Maybe my DH is the only one.
Re: According to DH we do not need to start on the nursery
Guys just don't get it. It's not too early at all!
It's safer to get it done early. That way if anything needs replaced or you need something you can see it. Plus then you have a place to put all your baby stuff and you can show everyone at the shower. He does not want to be dealing with organizing all that shit later when you're too uncomfortable/miserable to help.
Mine is the opposite! He needs things done immediately! I'm the one who wants to wait until January to empty out the "office" and make it the nursery.
That's tough... I hope he jumps on board with you sooner than March.
We didn't start on ours until about 27 weeks. I was freaking out! We ended up finding furniture on Craigslist (so didn't have to wait the standard 6-12 weeks for delivery), and didn't have to paint. However, it's still a work in progress (my husband is working on installing new closet doors right now--the kid is due any day!). Plus, I had my shower around 31 weeks, so it was very nice to have a place to put everything and when the nesting instinct kicks in, you'll want a place to go and organize little socks and outfits!
I only wish we had started sooner so that I had more energy to organize it. I totally hit a wall energy wise third trimester. Also, with the holidays coming up, you'll want to get as much done as possible now, so you and your husband can have some weekends off from nursery duty!
Tell him to get on it!!! He may find it helps him satisfy his nesting instincts, too! Good luck!
Okay...DH definitely needs to know that a month before is unacceptable.
Remind him that although you have a due date, your bundle can arrive soon.My DH and I started today (yes, I'm exhausted)...and I had to take so many breaks - and I'm just 24 weeks!
We still have a great deal to take care of and with the holidays right around the corner, time is going to fly by.
I am really also going to appreciate a place to put things from the shower in a a few weeks.
G/L!
You can tell him my story, which is that I went to the doctor at 34 weeks and was told to go home immediately, do not return to work, do not pass go, do not collect $200 and only get up to pee.
Fortunately, I had done the nursery about 3 weeks before. DH is having knee surgery next week, so this time I am probably not going to be as proactive between taking care of him and a toddler, but I will do my best to have everything done by 30 weeks.
We did the bulk of the painting today. We've got the dresser put together in the living room right now too! We're working on it early because Christmas is at our house this year, and our nephew will use the crib. DH figured that as long as he would be painting and putting together the crib, he'd go ahead and do the rest! That's why the dresser is in the living room, we're just waiting to move it in!
Good luck, I hope something lights a fire under your DH to get stuff going before March!
