Need help...overwhelmed!

Hi there! I am pregnant and looking into cloth diapering for our new baby. I did not use them with my DS and I really wish I would have. I have several friends that are cloth diapering and they have given me some websites and brands to check out but I am so overwhelmed with it all! Please help! Where do I need to start? How many diapers do I need starting off? I know NOTHING about this!

    It is overwhelming when you first start.  I started by watching this 7 part series.  The woman goes over the main types of diapers and the positives and negatives of each.  I think it was very helpful to see what the diapers look like and how to use them.  She also talks about accessories, wash routine, etc. 

    There is also an FAQ section at the top of this page.  

    Once you look through that, just read the posts on here and ask any questions you have.  The ladies on here are very helpful!

    It gets better! I had no one on board to start with cloth with my first but my mum thru a baby shower for this one and told everyone that we were going to do cloth! :)kaleb we got about 10and bumgenius 4.0 and as soon as I preped them got them onto my 17mum month old and havent loomed back! Im glad I switched before the new baby comes to get settled and I feel more prepaired to start with cloth with the next one doing pre folds and covers before he grows into the one size. Good luck!     The options can be overwhelming because there are different kinds of diapers for every kind of baby and for families with certain priorities.  Every type has its advantages and disadvantages.  The video series PP posted helped me really identify the aspects that had me wary and the parts I wouldn't mind so much.  Even then, sometimes you can't know unless you try it out.

    That's why most here would suggest trying out several different types before investing in a certain kind.  There are some diaper trials out there where you can try several kinds of diapers, and you can send back the ones you don't like for a store credit towards the type you do like.
