Is it too late? CD related

It's not too late to start now, is it? I plan on having more kids, probably 2 more.

Is this a good deal? What would I need to buy on top of this?

  • I think thats a decent deal, depending on the condition.  I would check the diapers first.  Also, I don't know how many you are planning on buying but I wouldn't buy all of one type to start out.  Personally, I don't like the Fuzzibunz on my LO at all, so I would not have been happy with a bunch of them!

I definitely don't think it's too late to start!  You will still get your money's worth, especially if you use it for more than one child.  Also, you can look at the other benefits too - no chemicals, convenient, better for the environment, earlier potty training, etc.

  • PP pretty much said it all....

I just wanted to add that we also hate fuzzibunz on our LO too. Just can't get a good fit with them, and they are the only cloth diaper I have ever had a leak with.
Also, If you are thinking of using them for multiple children, it may be worth your money to buy new one size diapers, so you can get more use out of them, as well as warranty.

  • It's never too late! :)

As far as the listing, it could be a good deal, but to me it would depend on the condition of the diapers. They look good in the pics but she didn't mention if there was staining, how the elastic is, etc. And those diapers only retail for $15, not 18, so it's not quite as good a deal as she made it sound. And of course I have to mention what everyone else always says - you never know if you'll like a particular brand, so be careful about buying a ton of one brand before trying them (although I've heard of people who've had good luck doing just this so it could just as easily go well).

As to what else you'd need, if you're planning to CD full time you'd need more diapers most likely (I'm just guessing she's at or close to the weight range for the smalls so would be outgrowing those soon). You'll probably want at least 20-24 diapers to wash every other day without running out. Besides that, wet bags for home and the diaper bag, CD safe diaper cream, CD safe detergent, and maybe liners or a sprayer depending on how you want to remove poo :). I may be forgetting things, but that's all I can think of for now.

Good luck, hope you decide to CD, it's been awesome (and addictive) so far for us!

  • It is never too late!!  I didn't care for FB though.  I really, really love BG 4.0. I have some with snaps and some that are hook and loop.  If you want to have more kiddos, it is definitely worth your money.  We bought our whole stash for just under $500 brand new. That included 2 hanging wet bags, 2 small wet bags for the diaper bag, 2 packages of Rock n Green detergent and some cloth wipes.  I love that we never run out of diapers. Now, I went really girlie with my BG, so if we have another baby and it is a boy, he will have to suffer in pink diapers for some of his overnight diapering. Lol!!  I would probably buy a few more just for him though. :-)  Spend a few days researching before you pull the trigger on all of the FB.  JMO though. Good luck!!

     P.S. I order from https://www.cottonbabies.com/index.php

  • I agree with pp.  Fuzzibunz are my least favorite.  The fit is fine on DS, but I have a harder time stuffing with enough absorbency to last more than an hour.  BG's have a larger pocket which is easier to stuff but a bit more bulk.

If anyone loves Fuzzibunz, I have 3 NIP Elite, 3 GUC/EUC Onesize and 3 GUC/EUC Onesize with repaired snaps for sale.

  • not too late at all expecially if you will use them again.

However that set is 1/2 small sized diapers so I wouldn't go with that one.

  • I agree with everyone, my Fuzzibunz are my least favorite. Some people love them on their kid though, so it wouldn't hurt to buy one to try out.  I just wanted to add that my favorite diapers we have are the Bee Green pockets from Sewcraftybaby.com, and they are under 10 dollars. I have also picked up some Bumgenious from Cottonbabies.com as "seconds" for 10 dollars. Seconds have an imperfection that doesn't interfere with functionality of the diaper...I have never been able to find any thing wrong with mine and it is a great way to try out a brand. Lastly, I really love Kawaiis, and the price is awesome.

I would just reccomend that you pick up a few different diapers at a low cost and see what you like, then add more. Thereis no harm in cloth diapering part time to start!

My DS outgrew the small FB by the time he was 3 months old, and he outgrew the medium size by 6 months. I also am not a fan of FB , they are the last diaper I grab from my stash.

  • I agree with PPs, FB are my least favorite. I liked the perfect size better than the one size, but they're still not that great. Also, I've seen the perfect size diapers that this CLer is selling on sale before for $11.95, so I don't think $10 for used is a good deal at all.

I definitely don't think it's too late to start, though! If you want to start with used, I'd check hyena cart and try to get a variety of different brands of diapers.
