Baby eating the whole time she's awake?

Is this what they call cluster feeding?  My little girl has wanted to eat almost constantly while she's awake for the past day and a half.  When she's asleep, she'll sleep for a good 2.5 or 3 hours, but when she's awake she's just fussy unless she's eating.  Anyone else dealing with this or have any thoughts on it???  LO os 2 weeks old today.

  • Sounds like cluster feeding to me. Hope you get some rest soon.

  • I was going to post this same thing. I feel like all I'm doing is shoving the boob in her mouth when she cries. I try to rock her or soothe other ways, but she's giving cues she's hungry. I don't remember my boys eating so much.

  • My LO does this every day for about half a day at a time. Usually it is in the afternoons/evenings, but today he has been doing it since he woke up this morning. Really good at doing things one-handed!

  • I thought I was the only one with this issue. Madison is 3 weeks old today and she eats on and off for 20mins each time I put her to breast - sleeping on and off the entire time. Just when I think she's done, she cries and nothing consoles her except for feeding.
  • This is the story of my life and DD is 2 weeks old, too! Last night and this morning all I have been doing is nursing her until she's happy!

  • It could also be that eating/sucking is what calms them down and they don't know how to calm down any other way.  Does rocking, swinging, or another method help?

  • It could be cluster feeding, or also a growth spurt. There is usually one are ounce 10 days and another at 3 weeks.

  • Thank goodness I'm not alone! I thought I was maybe forming a bad habit of always putting the boob in her mouth when she starts fussing but it does seem thats what calms her down most of the time....
