Rechargeable Batteries

Between stuff we use for ourselves and the various toys/accessories that our soon to arrive son will be using, we'd really like to stop using disposable batteries and get rechargeable. I've tried this before and I've never been happy with the amount of use I got out of the batteries. Does anyone have a good brand to recommend?

Thanks!

Re: Rechargeable Batteries

  • You don't want NiCad, those don't hold a charge after a while.

I'd get NiMH or better yet Litium-Ion (if you can afford them).  We just got a set of 8 D cell NiMH from all-battery.com and a universal NiMH (for all sizes) charger for $90.  They should last about 6-8x longer between charges than cheap disposable D cells.  But having two sets of four means that our swing will never be out of comission.

Now I plan on getting a full set of rechargeable NiMH batteries since our charger will do it all.

     HTH!

  • Lithium Ions are well worth the money! DH is a pro photographer, and uses them in his flashes, light meters, etc... They last a long time between charges, charge fast, and continue to hold their charge for YEARS. Whatever you do, though, pull them off the charger once they're full, don't leave them on. That will kill them.

  • We use the energizer rechargeables and we really like them. We bought them when we had DS because he spent a ton of time in his swing so we would have spent a fortune on batteries. We have a charger that accomodates all different sizes.

  • I've had no trouble with my Energizers.  I've recently tried Enlope, and like them too.  They have a lot of reviews and information on Amazon.com.  https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004UG41XW
  • I bought the $20 charger at harbor frieght and have tons of the batteries in differnt sizes we had two sets of 4 D's and 2 sets of 4 AA's when DS was born and we are still using them.  We jsut had to get C's for some new toys and love the recarging ablilty and they are cheap about $8 for 2 large batteries or  for 4 smaller ones not bad
