I made one. I bought a bunch of different styles of nursing bras in the beginning and there was one that I really just didn't like, plus it got all lanolin stained, so I used that one. It was more sports bra than regular bra in style, if that helps.
I wear soft cotton nursing bra's and a nursing tank. When I pump I postion the flange on my breast and then I snap the bra and tank on around the flange. With the pumps suction and the bra/tank combo it works as a hands free set up.
I bought one, but probably only because at the time it didn't even enter my mind to make one. I think, though, that the tighter the bra the better it will work. (Caution- too tight will plug your ducts!) When I take my bra out of the wash/dryer, it seems to fit better and I don't have to hoist it up as much. I would think a sports bra, then, might be a better option if you decide to make one yourself.

I have 2 diy out of sports bras. I ep and they don't bug me at all. In fact, it's nice at night because I can just wear one of them to bed with nursing pads in and when I need to pump in the middle of the night I don't have to do any changing of anything. Also, I usually have a tank on and a tshirt or something since I sah so I pull the tank down, tshirt up, and slip the bra on over. Don't have to remove clothing.

Ditto. It works best if you have a full sling bra/tank, and it works like a charm, FOR FREE!
This worked with almost all my nursing bras, and cost about a dollar! I don't like the idea of a "pumping bra." They don't look like something I would want to wear all day, every day, and who has the time to change into it?

I bought one and it has been a lifesaver! I didn't think of making one myself but at the time, I was like a week postpartum and so making one probably would have stressed me out. . I have EP since his birth and I would not still be pumping w/o it. I have the Simple Wishes bra and I like that it zippers in the front and has take on/off straps. I feel more supported w/ straps.

Buy it. I can't believe so many people go without one or diy. They are cheqp and a lifesaver. You don't wear it all day or change into it... I just put it on over my clothes.

You don't change into it. You wear a nursing bra, pull down the flaps, and put the pumping bra over it. That's why you need the strapless version. This is the one I had - well worth it for $30 and a total of 2 years of pumping at work.

I just bought the Simple Wishes one and it's amazing. I love the adjustable sizing, front zipper and the fact that it's strapless (but comes with straps if you need them). Well worth the $30, IMO.
$30 is a lot to us...I cut two little slits in an old sports bra. I mostly pump at night when I get home from work (I'm a dance teacher and don't have any breaks to pump at work) so I don't have to worry about having to get undressed. If you're pumping at home, does the $30 for the convenience of a strapless bra really matter? I can see if you have to pump for work, but then I'd prob just go to Walmart or Target and get a cheap bandeau bra and cut holes in it
Re: Pumping Bra--Buy or DIY?
I bought one, so that's my recommendation.
ETA: strapless is key so you can put it on/take it off without undressing.

Ditto this. I couldn't survive w/o it at work!
