A not-so important question

I am putting together DD's birthday list. She says she wants a crepe set (they make crepes at school- fun!). I'm sure she'd like a real one, but I'm going for the toy version. So, cloth crepe set or wooden crepe set? Both are about the same price.

Also, would either of these make a good birthday gift for one of her friends back at home or is it the kind of thing that only makes sense to a kid who has actually eaten crepes?

1) Cloth (Haba)

b) Wooden (Comes with the mini kitchen displayed).

  • I really like the cloth set, and I think they would make a great gift for her friends back home.

  • I love the cloth! However, the kitchen set is really cute. maybe cloth for you guys and the other for US friends (and if they don't know what crepes are they can play pancake, although I grew up eating crepes).

  • I vote cloth because it is super cute and will be lighter for you to bring home eventually.

Also, I'm personally anti-wood right now because I swear if I hear DD's wood toys clanging against our wood floors one more time I'm going to lose my shiiiit. This though only appears to be a symptom of 3rd tri :-)

  • I agree with everyone else. Those cloth ones are ten times cuter than the wood ones! If her US friends are unfamiliar with crepes, they look just like pancakes so, IMO, they would still be fun.

  • I like the cloth one much better and I'm not usually a fan of cloth food.  I think it's more realistic, she can wrap stuff up ect.  I totally think they would make a good gift for back home, especially if you think the parent would use it as a good opportunity to teach about France, make some crepes ect.
  • I vote cloth too! It will be more like a real crepe, and that strawberry is adorable.

Kids who don't know what crepes are will still probably like this, just maybe thinking they are pancakes.

I just registered for a bunch of wooden toys. Hadn't really thought about the wood floors! At least I can mentally prepare for that now.

I really like the cloth set.

  • I love it when the votes are unanimous! Cloth it is then. But I'll keep the wooden one in mind for friend gifts, in particular one who is coming to visit in the spring and can shlep it home herself!

  • I love the cloth.  We recently purchased the cloth/felt food sandwich set by M&D and DS loves it.  :)
