Is anyone else's kid NOT a night owl?

I saw (and had a chuckle at) a post on 3rd tri the other day where this girl was asking if her baby being active at night was normal. And of course everyone was all, "Yeah! Totally! More than normal!"

So that made me start thinking about my own little pumpkin. For as long as I can remember, she has never woken me up at night and I never really feel her move at all between the hours of 11-ish and 7 am. (To the point where it has made me nervous on multiple occasions.) With all the time I spend awake in the middle of the night, I never really feel a peep. Then once I'm up, she's up for the day pretty much non-stop.

I'm not going to kid myself into thinking that I'm going to get lucky with a good sleeper, but I was just wondering if anyone else has a baby that seems to be more wakeful during the day. Maybe I keep her up with my incessant babbling all day and by nighttime she's ready to crash. Who knows.

  • I wake up constantly during the night to pee and rarely feel the little one move at all. He/she most definitely doesn't wake me up with movement, either! Usually when I wake up in the morning (for good) and lay in bed for a bit, that's when the movement starts up. I can't imagine that I'm THAT heavy of a sleeper... I really think baby is just finally tired (like you said) after all of the constant running around and talking from all day long.

  • If anything, it seems as though I wake him up in the middle of the night when I get up to pee.  It usually takes him a minute or two to wind down and then we are both able to sleep!  He is most active right before bed and in the morning.

  • I have never been woken up by our little guy at night either, so you are not alone! The only time he wakes up is when I get up to go to the bathroom, kicks me a few times once I lay down but then he falls back to sleep. But during the day he goes non-stop.

I'm not getting my hopes up about getting a good sleeper either but it's nice to dream isn't it?

  • Liam wakes up twice a night... 11 pm and 230 am. My friend asked me this question just yesterday, actually. When I told her his times, she swore that that's when he'd eat at night (and maybe a few more in between.) Her two kids apparently had active times which later led to feeding times. Hopefully Betty will just be a champion sleeper!!

  • This kid NEVER sleeps lol .. he doesn't wake me up, but while I am asleep he is going good guns in there according to hubby.  I am just too tired to wake up I guess.
He bounces around like crazy at night before I goto sleep, pretty much all the time between 8am and 12pm  at work.. takes a few breaks here and there, but is usually bouncing around again like a mad thing by 3pm through 6pm.  Anytime I am laid back or relaxing is when he goes nuts... if I am sat upright he makes his displeasure known in no uncertain terms... you can imagine how lazy I look at work reclined in my chair lookin like I am at home gaming

He just likes to stay active I guess Indifferent

This almost exactly!  There was a time in 2nd tri when she would move at certain times in the night, but that stopped a long time ago.

Lots of love to my BFPB, Squishy622 <3

  • I've had the SAME THOUGHT about this baby because she's the same way at night! I am a very light sleeper and I rarely feel her moving around when I'm trying to sleep. It's almost like she's on the same sleep schedule as me or just knows when not to bother mommy! hahaha!! Of course, though, I'm not going to get my hopes up that this means she'll sleep whenever I sleep after she's born, but I'm praying this will be the case... especially since my first baby was a night mover in the womb and never slept a wink at night! lol! GOOD LUCK TO US! ;-)

  • Mine has never moved at night either, even when I get up all the time to pee!  There are times I'll poke and prod because I get nervous about the way I've been laying!  I've joked with my family that I must have a good sleeper already.... ;-)   We will see!! I can wish!

  • Night night movement from my LO. Usually in the morning during my commute and occasionally throughout the day...and right now because she somehow knows I'm talking about her. lol. She generally settles down late evening.

  • My LO is very rarely moves during the night. It's been nice. I have had one or two nights in the 3rd Tri where he/she is super active during the night and has kept me from sleeping so I am super thankful that LO is not active regularly during the night so I don't have one more thing working against me when I want to sleep.

  • I do feel him move during the night sometimes when I am trying to get back to sleep, but I don't really think he is waking me up.  He is usually pretty quite during the morning too.  I am not a morning person either, so maybe that is part of it.  Lukas is most active in the late afternoon through bedtime for now.

This - when I wake up to flip over, or get up to pee, he's sleeping and feels like he's as heavy as a rock.  But he usually wakes up and gives me a few kicks before I manage to get back to sleep.  My moaning and grumpiness about how heavy he is probably wake him up....

This is mainly what I get. In the times when I'm just awake and can't sleep, I do notice that sometimes she's up. She's not like super active enough to wake me out of sleep, but if I'm awake sometimes it feels like she may be in there twiddling her thumbs or something. I don't get any big moves throughout the night like I do in the morning and before bedtime.

  • He doesn't ever wake me up at night, so either I sleep through it or he sleeps.  He always repositions himself when I lay so I get a few kicks and jabs then he stops moving.

  • Me! He is pretty quiet after about 9 or 10 at night. Then once I get up and get going in the morning he starts up!

I have thought the same thing...maybe I will get lucky and he will continue this pattern in the outside world! Stick out tongue

  • Sabrina is super active from about 7 to 11 PM, but I rarely feel her after that. When I wake up to pee, I always try to feel her and I never do. It makes me somewhat nervous, but she alway seems to perk up once I'm awake for the day.

  • I've wondered about this, too. I've never been woken up by her at night, and the times I wake up, it seems that she's fast asleep in there. Lately I feel her pretty much all day long, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she's just on Mama's schedule and she's planning on sleeping through the night from the beginning  ;-)  One can hope, right?
