Cold medicine safe to take during pregnancy?

I seem to have come down with a cold... sore throat, stuffy nose, etc. and my doctor's office isn't open until tomorrow (I'm going to see the doctor tomorrow for my first appointment at 11 AM!)

Does anyone know of a cold medication that is safe to take during pregnancy?

Thank you!

  • I am just getting over a cold.  In my info packet from my OB, the safe meds listed for a cold are: Tylenol for aches, pains and fever ; Plain Sudafed (red box) for congestion ; Robitussin DM for cough ; Chloraseptic spray/lozenges for sore throat.  Hope that helps!  Feel better soon!

Edited:  Also, They said it was safe to take the Robitussin and Sudafed together since they do not contain any of the same active ingredients. Helped my symptoms greatly!

  • Thank you so much!  I'm kind of feeling miserable, and it sucks cause it's DH's birthday (I'm throwing him a surprise birthday party this afternoon and then tonight we're going to an Oscar-watching party.

I'm definitely stopping this morning to get some Tylenol Cold Medicine and Robitussin!

  • Thank you!!! :::runs to check those out on safefetus::: I feel a cold coming on too. =(
