XP: How many of you have fetal ultrasound dopplers at home?

I'm worried that I'm going to have to wait until my doctor's appointment in April to hear the baby's heart beat. I read online about inexpensive fetal ultrasound dopplers. I was wondering how many of you have these at home and how easy they are to use? For some reason, I do think it's a little silly to have one at home, but I'm also so tempted to have unlimited access to hearing the heart beat! lol!

  • I have the Angelsound fetal doppler, which was under $30, but I don't think I could pick anything up on it with DS until I was around 11 weeks. May be worth it for you though since you would be over 13 weeks in April? When in April is your doc appt?

  • I have a fetal doppler I got off of Amazon with my last pregnancy. It works great, but we tried to limit our time using it. Just so you know, you might not be able to pick anything up on one from 11 - 12 weeks. Some lucky women get a heart beat at 10, but it's rare. It has a lot to do with how much padding you have between you and baby. With my little pouch I was able to hear at 12.

  • I had one from work that I *ahem* borrowed. :-/ it was great but it was a vascular instead of fetal Doppler. But with DD I heard the heartbeat at 10 weeks and used it up until I could feel her regularly. I'd like to get one for this pg too it does put your mind at ease but... Again not til after 10+ weeks.

  • I rented one from belly beats and heard the heartbeat at 10 weeks (it was the same doppler that my dr used).  I loved it but have heard you get the same results from less expensive models.

  • I have one from DD. I bought it off Amazon for about $60 and started using it at around 12 weeks. For me it was very reassuring to hear her for those few weeks before I could feel her move. I'm looking forward to using it this time too!

  • a friend of mine has one and brought it over last night...thinking we might be able to hear something but didn't...and looked up that we wont until about 10-12wks...she said we can try again then :)
  • I got one for my last pregnancy and I was able to pick up the heartbeat a few days shy of 10 weeks.  It was awesome and so worth it, IMO.

  • I purchased a Sonoline B off Amazon with DS and it was nice to have at home. I was able to share DS heartbeat with my parents since they weren't able to go to appts with me. My DS was not very active throughout my pregnancy, so it was good to have around when I couldn't feel much movement.

  • We had purchased a dopler off of Amizon while I was pregnant with my DD. It worked well but you do have to limit use. I could hear her hb around 10 weeks, certinaly made it worth its weight in gold:o) It was a great relief to have because I had gone through 2 losses prior.Good luck!
