The other night I put LO in his cradle and went to another room to watch TV. DH wasn't home yet. I turned on the monitor in the living room and heard tapping on it. I thought LO was maybe kicking so I peeked back in and he was totally quiet. I went back to the monitor and this time I heard what sounded like a voice. I stood by it and heard a child counting, "3, 4, 5...". I was so freaked. This may sound dumb, but my first thought was it's a ghost! I watch "Ghost Hunters" and sometimes they pick up voices, you know? I shut it off and went back to our room. Then I started to wonder if it's our new neighbors. They just moved in and I know they have small kids. DH got home like 15 minutes later and we turned it back on and it sounded like a TV. He said it was definitely the neighbors. We changed channels on the monitor and it was back to normal. That really freaked me out! I didn't know that could happen! Have y'all had any monitor interference?
Re: Picking up "other voices" on baby monitor
Your going to love this.
When ds1 was 4 weeks old we moved him from our room to his own crib.
We were using a monitor that had lights on it the louder the sound or the closer the sound the more lights.
So one night I put Dylan down for the night, grab the monitor handheld thingy and go In the living room to watch tv. A few hours later I hear what I can only think of as a old raspy man breathing. I run into his room thinking he is having trouble breathing and when i get in there he is wide awake staring at the ceiling.... No wheezing. I leave the room again and go sit down within moments it starts again but this time the lights are at full (all five are lit up). I go running back in and decided to take him into the living room and watch him.
I left the monitor on but turned it down and sure enough a few minutes later "the breathing was back" it creeped the *** out of me to the point that we moved my son back into my room.
No I want to say that dh and I both did experiments with talking and bouncing balls, whether it was someone else or a ghost who knows but we could never figure out how it lit all the lights up.
we get weird creepy screech noises at odd hours from DD's, sometimes even when the monitor isn't on in DD's room. but we also have lots of other odd things happen in our house that can't be explained so we just go along with it....
It happened to us! We could hear the neigboor say: "You put those pants on RIGHT NOW or I will hit your stupid face!" we heard a slapping noise and the child making the WORST scream I have ever heard.
We called CAS. True story.
When I was reading reviews for monitors, a lot of them said that analog monitors will pick up other people's signals. That's why I got a digital!
I totally agree Crystal....we should totally start a ghost story thread! I have a few
I have quite a few, myself! We haven't heard talking on ours, but I have heard the tapping. It will start, then stop. And DS is passed out.

I met George Noory two weekends ago and got a pic with him. I was so stoked. Been listening since '98. I think they're called EVP recorders, but they haven't had someone who does that sort of stuff on in a while. Before I even opened the thread, I was wondering how creepy your story was going to be and if it was a ghost. Definitely let us know if it happens again, which ever way it turns out. (and I secretly hope this never happens to us)
Ok, give me a minute
