I am sorry mama! I know the feeling. I am in my first week of keeping track and controling my blood sugars. Its a bit much to take in at first but its getting easier.
I dislike every part of my GD except, I haven't gained any weight in over 2 weeks! Awesome! I was coming up on 30 lbs of weight gain and it just came to a screeching hault. He is still growing fine though thank goodness!
I couldnt understand how I failed it..I only gained 11 lbs up to being 27 weeks prego! so i know the baby isnt too big. Im not looking forward to the diet only because my job is so busy I work in an airport feeding passangers and were constantly busy theres no time to stop and eat or test my blood period.
i just had my 3 hour test done on friday and had a returned phone call to watch my sugar intake no candies pops sweets i wasnt told i do or dont have gd but still following advice i lost 6lbs from when i found out i was preg up till a month ago and gained that back plus a pound so now im curious as to how the weight gaining will turn out

GD has nothing to do with weight gain. I gained 12 lbs total (actually technically gained 4 lbs from pre-pregnancy weight, I lost 8 lbs and gained them back so I count it) with DS and he was 10 lbs. I had GD. I walked out of the hospital 30 lbs lighter than when I got pregnant. Even with this pregnacy I'm still down 14 lbs pre-pregnancy (lost 16 lbs total) and only gained 2 lbs, this LO was measuring at over 5 lbs 3 oz two weeks ago.
GD doesn't have anything to do with eating the wrong things, it just means that your body can't handle the extra hormones pumped out by the placenta, it will get worse as the placenta churns out more hormones.
As far as finding time to eat, I'm assuming you are eating now right? You will find time to eat and testing your sugars take less than 30 seconds. I don't know if you are testing 1 or 2 hours after, but use it as a potty break because you will be going to the bathroom anyway. If your employer doesn't see the need to give you breaks, you can always get your doctor to write a note.
Sorry no paragraphs, bumping from my phone.

I'm sorry to hear this--I also failed the three hour glucose and I have to go for diabetic counseling and dietary guidelines this Wednesday morning. Sux I know but I have cut back considerably on carbs/sweets which can be a good thing for myself and the baby. I really hate needles and don't want to test my sugar but I guess I have to do what's best for me and the baby. I swear when I found out I cried miserably and a part of me doesn't want to accept it but I'm getting there..Good luck and try not to stress..If you need to talk to someone inbox me..:)
Re: failed 3 hour glucose test. oh joy.
