NT and Gender Reveal?

My husband and I went Thursday and had our NT scan done. We asked the US tech if she could tell what gender the baby is and she was able to see! We are so excited, but wanted to see if anyone else has found out this eary. I was measuring further along than what we thought and I was 13 weeks 6 days when we found out, instead of 13 weeks 3 days. Just curious if anyone else was able to find out this early?

Re: NT and Gender Reveal?

  • The u/s tech guessed at ours (Boy!) but we aren't telling anyone until the 20 week a/s in case he was incorrect. Even though I heard it's a lot easier to tell for boys than girls.

  • I am honestly shocked at how many people on here have heard before 20 weeks what they are having. I would completely take it with a grain of salt before 18-20 weeks! My MIL is an ultrasound tech and will not even give parents a one way or another until 20 weeks because its only a 50-50 guess at that point, she might be right but she might be wrong. I found out at 20 weeks exactly that DS was a boy, at 16 weeks in the ER they told me it *might* be a girl and they were wrong. I would really wait until saying anything until 20 weeks because they very well could be wrong. That is JMO though lol sorry for the rant!

I agree with this poster. I am shocked how many people have found out. My doctor told me there isn't a way to tell until 20 weeks it's just a guess. So they are going to be right 50% of the time, plus my mums friend was told 5 times and I am not kidding 5 times she was having a boy and it turned out to be a girl. I would wait till 20 week for sure.

  • A really good tech or OB can likely tell.  The lady who did our NTs with our first two predicted correctly, and my OB did an u/s to determine gender at 16 weeks for every patient (who wanted to know, I mean).  He said he hadn't been wrong in 20+ years and joked that he'd pay for college if he were, in fact, wrong.

  • That's a tad early since the "nub" is ever present still.  However, I found out at 16 weeks to the day with each of my children and it was plain as day.  Those were done using 4D u/s and a very experienced u/s tech though.
  • I was given a guess also. They were clear about saying its just a guess and not to decorate the nursery. It's clear it's too early to see a penis or not but they have their ways of tracking development on some. It was fun to hear but will def wait til anatomy scan for an answer :)

  • They guessed girl with my daughter at 12 weeks, and obviously she's a girl.  I think they are right 50% of the time.  I didn't go out telling anyone or buying anything pink until my 18 week u/s.
