So today we went and bought the Tide Free and Clear to start washing her clothes! I was so excited to get started with this, until my husband asked if we needed special dryer sheets as well... We just have the regular Bounce kind.
Do we need to get something else?! Sorry, total FTM question
Re: Dryer Sheets for baby clothes... FTM question :)
Either use non at all, a little white vinegar in your rinse cycle, dryer balls or bounce free & clear sheets.
We've done all of these at various times, DH does most of the laundry and prefers the free & clear sheets. We use free & clear for all of our washing now and dont' buy anything else. We use the kirkland brand detergent, much cheaper!
From what I know it'll all depend on how sensitive your baby is to different scents etc. Some are more than others. Personally I wouldn't use them.
Something you could do instead is Dryer Balls, I never use dryer sheets but always use dryer balls.

I've heard this also. When my DS's were little we had a standard dryer, and I just didn't use anything. There was never an issue with static. Sure some stuff got stuck together, but once i'd seperate it and fold it, it was fine.
We have a new LG front load washer/dryer now, and there's anti-static in it. We won't be using dryer bars/sheets this time either.

I plan on not using any dryer sheets at all.
DD got rashes from every kind we tried (all the free/clear kinds), so we don't use any for her clothes. Because she was on us all the time, we also couldn't use them for our clothes.
You get used to the static.
We got Tide free and Clear too! Nice stuff and much more cost effictive then Dreft. As far as taking care of static and keeping clothes soft we purchased wool dryer balls off of amazon. They last a very long time and are completely natural. Cheaper in the long run too.
This. It's not worth it to me, and babies skin can be so sensitive anyway.
This is us, plus we use wool dryer balls. Both help with static. If your clothes are too staticky, stop drying them as long. That will help a lot!
I have also heard that using fabric softener and fabric sheets strips the clothes of the flame retardant.
All of this. I also heard that the dryer sheets take away the flame retardant in clothing. DS is almost two and I still don't use them on his clothing because his sleepers are flame retardant.
I use the white vinegar mixed with water in my rinse cycle (where you put the fabric softener) not because of static but because I have hard water and it does help with the stains. I also run an extra rinse cycle to get all of the detergent off. I hate stains on his clothing and I will use three different stain removers and the vinegar to keep his clothing looking fresh and new. I use three because I don't know which one is the best or if it's the combo but all are used.
I also didn't know that clothing can smell like static.
I once had a picture until the trolls showed up.

All of this. I've never used a dryer sheet before, neither did my mother.
Wool dryer balls are awesome. They soften, reduce dryer time (by 20 minutes for me) and reduce static. If you are having a big static problem though, you are running your dryer for too long.
ETA: I purchased my wool balls from Etsy. I keep 6 in my dryer at all times. They last for years.
