Baby in ribs at 39 wks??

Is this normal? With my first one when she dropped, she wasn't in my ribs any more. The doc said she's low, I'm a "good" 3 cm dilated and "right on the edge", but should I still be feeling her in my ribs? It feels like I'm 30 weeks pregnant instead of 39! Could this mean big baby on the way? Anybody else like this?

    Babies are big, even when they're "little". Look at it this way... ds was 20" when he was born. I am 59" tall. He was pretty much 1/3 as tall as me crammed in my torso. So yeah... that's a lot of baby (even average sized ones) living in there crammed in with all your organs, bones, etc.

    I'm an L&D nurse and many patients continue to feel rib kicks and discomfort all the way thru delivery until baby is out.

    im with ya on that one- but at least your baby has dropped- mine is still 'high up' and im not making much progress. im getting to where i cant sleep at night from the rib pain, not from kicks but just from his butt being up there i think.

    I had a small baby--6.3 and 19"--he dropped at 34 weeks but I felt him in my ribs until he was out. He actually bruised them. But I also have a short torso.
