The daughter of a friend of mine (married) is having a little girl in June and naming her Aurora, nn Rory. I love it, even if she did admit shes named for the Disney Princess (the whole family are major Disney fans).
In theory I like Aurora but I feel like it's difficult to say. Same with Rory. DD (5) knows an Aurora and says it like Uh-woah-wuh.
this. this name is NMS. It's hard for me to say and I'm 30, not 5...
I'm glad it's not just me! I like the name and the nn, but I've always had problems saying it.
Agreed. I *want* to like it, but can't get past the difficulty of saying it. A couple of our major name qualifiers is easy to say, easy to spell. That knocks this out of the running early for us.
That's going to be our daughter's name, nickname and all. I've always loved that name. I never thought it was hard to say and I've never heard any one tell me that either.

I love the name and like the nn Rory too even though I know a lot of people don't given the masculinity of Rory. I didn't know it was a Disney princess until I saw it mentioned on here a few times. It is on our list.

Same! Outside of Denver is the city of Aurora & it has a bad reputation so I can't take it seriously as a name. Rory it's bad but I think it's a little masculine for the FN Aurora.

I love it!
The double r is a little bit of a tongue twister, like rural, which I always have to put a slightly increased effort into pronouncing.
I love the similar sounding Aurelia even more. It's easier to say... but it also reminds some of the ladies on here of nipples :-)
I love it and kinda want to use it, same name and nn. I also love just Rory for a boy as well.
Of course I'm not pg and haven't even discussed this name with DH so not guarantees on me ever using it.
