A family friend is having a baby shower in 2 weeks and she's registered for a Pikkolo on Amazon. They're sold out there. And every other website I've checked. I'd really like to get her a baby-wearing device of some sort because it's something I feel pretty strongly about. I was thinking of texting her to see if her heart was set on the Pikkolo or if she'd be open to other carriers. I was thinking Beco Gemini because it also allows for forward facing. Any other thoughts?
Re: What's comparable to a Pikkolo?
Yep, I'd say the Beco Gemini for sure. They're the only two big name buckle carriers that do front facing out in a real seated position. I'm not personally a fan of buckle carriers, but most of the people in my babywearing group rave about the Gemini.
What a nice gift!
But that might not be the reason she chose the pikkolo. I chose it bc it's got a natural waist and is therefore good for shorter moms.
I think a half buckle or buckle tie might be more similar (basically like a MT but with buckles for convenience).
It's available directly from catbird baby:

this website has 1 print https://www.theportablebaby.com/pikkolo.html that is where I orderd mine.
I would make sure it can be exchanged if you do get her a different carrier. I for example really wanted to love the Boba but the fit wasn't right for me.
