I am pregnant with twins and recieved an ultrasound at 7.5 weeks and another at 12.5 weeks and my next appointment I will be 16.5 weeks and thought for sure I would have another ulltraound, but I guess they are being super safe to be sure of an accurate anatomy scan, so they are making me wait somewhere betwen 18-20 weeks. Because I am having twins I am SO anxious to start planning so I think I am going to go to an ultrasound spa "becoming mom" to find out thier genders on my husbands birthday when I will be EXACTLY 16 weeks. Is this too early? They said you have to be 16 weeks for them to do the scan and if they arent 100 percent sure, they will let you keep coming back for free until they are sure. I figure it can't hurt... Have any of you other Momma's found out at 16 weeks? Was it accurate? Thanks!
Re: Early gender ultrasound... 16 weeks?
We found out at 16 weeks that we were having boys. Our u/s tech was pretty sure of herself and it turned out to be right!
external sex organs are formed by 12 weeks- which is why some get an early guess at the NTS (I did with my singleton and twins- and all were right). At 16w they can tell for sure- if they get a good view, which is always the trick - even at 20 weeks, sometimes babies are shy
good luck!
I asked my tech at my 12 week NT scan if she had an early guess. She told us what she thought they were - with a certainty behind it.
She even went as far as to go to my mother and say "so how do you feel about being a grandmother to two girls"
I'm 16 weeks this coming week and we go in for another ultrasound so I'm hoping they will confirm!
We shall see...
But from what I hear, they can most often tell at this point.
We found out at 16w4d, out tech was 100% sure. We will find out if she was right at our level II at 22w3d
We found out at 14w5d! Good luck!
(Do they do facials at said "ultrasound spa" too!?) ;o)
We found out at 16 weeks that ours were both boys, our MFM told us not to go out and buy all blue, but now at 24 weeks they are totally still boys!
Good luck!
