Re: FFFC

  • I am tired of getting up 2-3 times per night with DD.  I love her and I work FT, so it's really the most quality time I get to spend with her during the week, but dammmit, I am tired! I calculated and I haven't had a full night of sleep in over a year. And that's a lot.  When your 3 year old is the only one getting uninterrupted sleep, I consider that sad.

  • I can't wait for my parents to get back from vacation, I don't miss them nearly as much as I miss their desire to babysit.

    Yes

I have an addiction to TB I realized that today when I got soooo much accomplished I was got everything done so fast this morning I was open when DH came home on lunch for some Afternoon delight! Wow I need to break my bump addiction.

    I'm an addict also!

  • DH and I have been sharing a car for a few months, and planned to buy a new one for me when our taxes came in. So we just bought one this week, and I decided to go with..... a minivan. Never in my life did I think I would drive a minivan, but once we started looking at them I wanted one so bad. This thing is like a living room on wheels. It has automatic sliding doors and so much room in the back for BF when we're out and about. I feel like such a dork driving around in it, but I totally love this thing!
  • I've been avoiding my grandmas. They're sweet ladies and I love them very much, but they piss me off when it comes to DD.

My grandmother on my dad's side is OBSESSED with baby formula. I think she must have a side job working for nestle. She constantly wants to talk about how a baby *needs* formula, how my milk isn't adequate or isn't enough, etc. I know that was the prevalent idea in her generation, but SHEESH!

My step-grandmother on my mom's side married my grandpa when I was a baby. She has no children of her own and has no idea how to relate to babies or small children. My mom is urging me to do another overnight g-ma visit (she lives about 4 hrs drive away) - says we need to visit more since my g-pa passed away last year. The last time I brought DD, we get there and g-ma informs me that she has a cold but its ok since I'm still breastfeeding and DD (4wks old) has my immunity. Oh, and she also recently tested positive for MRSA after a minor knee surgery!!!!! WTF - you couldn't tell me that before I drove 4 hrs!!! Won't be doing that again!

  • I am petty. We are the first ones in DH's circle of friends to have kids. Now the second wave of people are about to have some, and out of a sudden there a invitations to showers and whatever - from the same people who basically ignored that we had a child - no cards, no congrats and they didn't come to our shower either. So we are not going to theirs. Horribly petty, but well - I guess that's just how I am.

  • I will never in my life sell my soul to a mini van. Ever.

I totally use BFing as an excuse to not go to MIL's house. Sorry but I am not driving over an hour to sit in a back room and try to feed my son in her stinky cigarette house and i can't give 2 bottles in a row unless I pump and I am not pumping in her house either. DH agrees with me and it pisses her off. Oh well lady, i don't feel the slightest bit guilty about it.

  • 1.  I want to cut DS's hair.  I never thought I would want to cut my baby's hair this young, but it's too long (past his ears and down his neck in the back) and looks awful.  He's adorable, but this hair looks so mangy half the time.  I'm afraid with a trim he'll look like a little boy and not a baby anymore.  Sad

    2.  DH and I are in his sister's wedding this summer.  I feel horrible saying it but I don't want to be!  I love her, but it's a pain in the a'ss.  It's a financial obligation that we really can't afford and they live 10 hours away which is also difficult.  It's also an adult only wedding, but she's said our son is an exception.  I just feel weird about the whole thing.  Also, we get along well but aren't super close.  I think she asked me b/c being her sister-in-law is important to her but she's closer to her friends and cousins.....  I'm going to get my dress this weekend and I'm really dreading it.  Also, (god I sound horrible) she is registering for gifts but didn't shop our registry for our baby shower- in fact she didn't get us much at all.  I will get her something she wants, but I'm a little bitter about it.

    3.  I'm embarressed by how petty I sound in #2.  Embarrassed

  • I read the book Porn for New Moms the other day -- in case you don't know, no it's not actual porn but rather pictures of good looking men who cook, clean, take care of baby, get up in the middle of the night with baby, etc. I was more than a little embarrassed when I realized that the words on almost every page apply to my life. MH cooks most nights, cleans, does dishes, makes the formula, plays with baby and tells me to go take a bubble bath, gets up in the middle of the night with G 9 times out of 10, etc. I am so spoiled it's not even funny. Please don't hate me... it was just the best confession I can come up with today :-/

I guess having an awesome husband sorta makes up for the fact that we have no other help with baby.

I am really upset that I can't eat meat today! I was really looking forward to our Friday traditions of boneless buffalo wings, DH orders a personal pie with olives and I order a personal pie with ham and artichokes. Between TB not working and not eating meat on Fridays (because of lent) I am clearly not having a good day!

Ah! I totally forgot about this. I met up with friends for Five Guys...whoops...

  • The doors are really what sold me. We have a car, and recently got rid of a large SUV. The van blows them both out of the water as far as convienence goes. DH was excited when he saw that there are enough Latch systems for 5 carseats in it! Unfortunately for him we won't be needing more than 2 or 3 of those at most. Edit: I meant to quote Macalien. I suck at this...
  • I begged my husband to do cloth diapers and he finally caved. Now that I have them, they are such a hassle and I'd rather use disposables. But I'm sticking with it for now because we spent so much money on them. And they make DD's tushy look so darn cute!

Right now I am dipping strawberries straight into the jar of nutella.

I suppose I should add a confession-- I'm Catholic and I still eat meat on Fridays in Lent.  Maybe a worse confession- I don't feel guilty about it.  I don't think it changes my faith or anything in any way....

  • I judge. A lot. I judge people who "accidentally" get KU (either you're using protection and using it correctly, or you're not. And subsequently, if your "accidental" pregnancy is a result from something like being on the pill and antibiotics at the same time, I judge you for being too dumb to check for drug interactions when you started taking a new medication). I judge people by the contents of their shopping cart at the grocery store. I judge people with bad grammar and poor spelling (it's not difficult to discern proper use of "their" vs "they're" - I managed to master an understanding of this part of the English language around 4th grade). I judge you by your stupid political bumper stickers on your car. I judge you by your equally stupid ill-informed and baseless political rants on fb. I'm trying to work on it, because you never know what it's like to walk in someone else's shoes, but some people make it too damn easy sometimes.

My friend and I were just discussing this today over lunch. We said we would never drive a minivan but the longer we have kids, the more we want one. That whole automatic doors that slide  thing is so tempting. I am sick of struggling to open my car and then trying not to whack the door on the vehicle next to me trying to get either DD in.

DH is dying to get a mini-van, I keep telling him it's his mid-life crisis car.  When we got me a car, I was going to get a big sedan then starting lusting over a station wagon...  everyone thinks DH talked me into it, but I got it because I wanted it.

I do this too.  Honestly, I don't feel bad about it.  I think it's a window into someone's personality that they can't be bothered to use language correctly, or don't care enough to educate themselves.

If someone says "literally" incorrectly (and there are VERY few instances in which the word even can be used correctly) I automatically decide they're kind of stupid.  And I'm usually right.

I also judge people who buy white sandwich bread.

I'd do the same thing.. unless they came to you with a huge apology about how they acted and somehow made it up to you.  Their behavior is pretty effed up.  No one likes going to afternoon baby showers that kill a whole day, but you still do it for a friend.

He owns part of a construction company with his dad and brother so he makes enough money for them to not even have to cut back in order for her to stay home. And he is going  to build them a new house. I don't know why it seems unfair, but it does. We are having such a hard time right now even with DH working 2 jobs and me working full time that I think it makes me even more jealous. sigh.
