My grandmother had a fall last night and broke her hip and will need acute care rehab. Does anyone have any experience with the following rehab centers? If so, please email me at lainaustin at yahoo. Her main concern is that she does not want to be with a bunch of 'old folks'. And good care is also of high importance. Thanks! Central Texas Rehab (38th St.) Health South Rehab (Red River) St. David's Rehab (E. 32nd St.)
DH had to go to St. David's and he is only 26 so he isn't an old folk.

I was never there but I just asked DH and he said that he received good care there. He said there was a wide range of people there, he would go back if he had to, and he would send his grandma there. HTH!

Is there a member of your family who could go in person and ask for a quick tour to check things out?
I'd call each place and ask how many patients they treat each year and what percent (or number) of those patients are there for broken hips. If one place has a much bigger percent (or number) of broken hip diagnoses, I'd possibly pick that place over the others.
My MIL did rehab at St. Davids for a stroke 1.5 years ago and thought it was a good program. She actually pays to still go and use their pool. Sorry to hear about your Grandmother :-(
I've been a volunteer at St David's Rehab (4th Floor) for 3 years and I absolutely love the nurses, techs and therapists there. They take really good care of their patients. And the patients there are a wide range in age.
