Second baby gift??

I know a couple of people having babies soon. They both have girls and are now having boys. Aside from clothes and diaper, what are good gifts since they have all the basics?

Things that get worn out like cute baby towels and wash cloths. I had to get new of those because the ones from ds when he was a baby had seen better days. Um, other than that I can't think right now. Sorry I'm not more help.

We got a couple really thoughtful gifts besides the clothing - a personalized book with ds' name was my favorite. Also - any freezer meal or ready to eat meal is awesome. I have been extremely touched though when people bring over a small gift for dd - nothing big (her favorite gift came from the dollar store) - but it is just so nice when someone thinks of the older sibling who actually knows what's going on. Throw in a coloring book or something like that for the older kid.

I am a big fan of receiving blankets and burp rags. I go through them like air and can never have enough!!

I second the idea of toys for the older one. I also asked for books, partly because reading is a great way to distract the older one while nursing and also I'm sure that the baby will enjoy the books when she gets older too. Also, find out if they have a baby carrier that they love, because that's something that often gets bypassed with a first baby and is invaluable with a 2nd.

I had a boy first and a girl second so I really liked getting girly versions of the basics. Things like blankets, bibs, and socks. I desperately needed a new diaper bag, but I guess that is something most people want to pick out for themselves.

You may want to do a quick search for registries. I know I registered just for the discount coupons. You may find something!

I wholeheartedly agree with getting a little something for the older sibling. It means so much to both the parent and the child.
