Stroller Help---Jogger?

We are looking for our stroller and car seat for our first child. We take long walks everyday with our dog and we'd like a stroller that can stand up to the often rough sidewalks. At the same time, we'd really like one that can be used with a snap in car seat for convenience. Does anyone have any recommendations?

We have considered this one, but does anyone have a personal review or other suggestion?

Re: Stroller Help---Jogger?

  • I have the Baby Jogger Summit XC.  It's an awesome jogging stroller with large wheels.  All of the trails around my home are unpaved and it handles very well.  There's an adapter bar that can be purchased separately that can allow for the car seat to be used.  This stroller also lays flat, so you can put a newborn into the stroller without the car seat.  Using rolled up blankets gives the necessary head support.

  • I am trying to decide between the City Elite or the Summit.  Good to hear you like yours.  I think I like the tires on the Summit better.

  • I have the Baby Trend Expedition, but not the carseat so I can not comment on that.  The stroller is great for walks, runs, and uneven terrain.  The negative is that if you are jogging you need to lock the front when down at the wheel base, there is no button/lock on the back.  Other than that I have been jogging with my stroller for about a year and never had any issues.

  • I'm going with the Bob Revolution and am getting the car seat adapter for the Chicco infant car seat.  There are different adapters so you could look on amazon to see if one is made specifically for your infant carrier....I'm too lazy to look for you ;)

The Bob is going to be one of my slurges and I am SO excited.  This stroller rocks!

  • britax b agile is what we went with, stroller and car seat. The seat snaps right in to the stroller and it is super easy to fold/ unfold (one handed). I originally was going to go chicco key fit, we went to BRU to pick one out. I saw the britax and immediately changed my mind. It's light and like the name very agile. The only things is the wheels are plastic not rubber and smaller than the heavy duty joggers so I don't know how great it would be on rough terrain. The employee at BRU  also sold me on it when she said that Europe's safety standards are even stricter than ours and it's the number one selling car seat over there.

  • We have the baby trend and I love it.  I've used it for shopping, jogging, walks, etc and have no complaints.  I actually bought them separately and saved about $20 because I found the carseat on sale at Target and the stroller on sale on Walmart.com.  The stroller is a little large when folded, so if you have a smaller car, I'd check the fit in your trunk before buying.  I have a nissan maxima which has a fairly large trunk and it fits perfectly.
  • I do not have this particular system, but I do have the Baby Trend car seat. While I love their triangle-shaped handle, the car seat is really heavy and eventually it just got really annoying to carry around, so we are eager to switch to a convertible now.

Secondly, we used the car seat with the adapter for the Baby Jogger City Mini. The seat on the City Mini reclines, so we starting putting the baby in the regular seat of the stroller when she was around 8 weeks old so there was no need for it. Besides, she hated being in her car seat.

So in all, I'd focus on getting a nice stroller and a nice car seat rather than getting a travel system. FWIW I really love our City Mini.

  • As I was reading, I was going to say the Expedition! We borrowed an older model from a friend to see if we liked it , and we TOTALLY did.  Our bebe is out of a carrier now, but I do know that the BabyTrends accept carseats.  A wonderful buy, I think.

I wrote about the old one here:  https://redheadbabymama.blogspot.com/2012/02/review-babytrend-expedition-single.html
