??? For moms who breastfeed

I bf most of the time. LO may get an ounce or two of formula a day. My question is, and it may be stupid, how long does it take before your breasts are engorged. It seems like I can go hours before I start to hurt . I am struggling with supply issues my LO is 7 weeks so I know my supply is in. Thx

    usually I am engorged overnight if he sleeps long. I pump when he goes to bed so its not too bad but when i wake up/ he wakes up I am full. Since I block feed, my second boob hurts most so I hand express some after i feed im in the morning. I also get super full during the day if I am out and too much time passes between feedings because at home he eats on demand every hour or two.

    We have kind of settled into a schedule, although I do feed on demand, and it seems like I'm not engorged as often (which I think is a good thing??).  Like PP if she sleeps 'too long' at night then I wake up engorged.  That is usually more than 4 hours.  We never go 4 hours during the day though.
    Hallelujah, it's a miracle, I have children AND a signature!

    I don't get super engorged, but it's most likely to happen after LO wakes up from a long nap if he only ended up feeding from one side.

    FWIW you'd be more engorged if you didn't suppliment and just fed until your LO is satisfied, but I don't know your situation and what led you to suppliment at all.

    My DD eats every 2-3 hours from both sides, so I have yet to feel too engorged. There was one occasion where one side got really hard and hurt . . . An ice pack and making sure she ate from that side next took care of it.

    I think she's going through a growth stage though and getting me to make more milk for her because she is a hungry little bird!!!

    Normally if you are feeding on demand nature is taking care of things and you won't hurt.

    Maybe 4 or 5 hours but at different times it seems like less.

    I use to get engorged when lo started sttn. She would sleep for 8-9 hours and my boobs would be rock hard... But not anymore, they naturally adjust

    Mine really only get engorged overnight when she sleeps for long periods. If I go 4-5 hours during the day, which is rare, I'll get engorged as well.
