Toddler Underwear

Knock on wood, potty training is going great.  Two accidents on Wednesday and none since, and she even pooped on the potty at Panera today (although I do have to sing a made up poop song, even in public, which is awesome!)

She will wear pants, but not underwear.  I got fruit of the loom in 2T and they seem to be too big/baggy.  Anyone else have a child with little buns that can recommend undies?  Or is it ok to just let her go out in just pants (I feel like she's really young to be going commando lol).

Re: Toddler Underwear

  • We have some character undies that run small (dora, spongebob) and then walmart brand ones that run larger.  I would make sure that she wears underwear so that she doesn't get used to anything else.  Also there is a period of time where kids generally are not good wipers, you would definitely want them in their underwear for that reason.  And I recommend the flushable toddler wipes for #2.

  • I have some boy ones that were super tight on Evan, that I think that I bought at Target....I think they were 2T.  You are more than welcome to them, never worn, but they are boy's.

  • I think the Target ones run pretty small.  The Wal-mart ones we have are huge.  Carters are pretty snug too I think.  My favorite for DS#1 are his H&M boxer briefs.  I'm not sure what the girls underwear from there are like, but I really like the boy ones.
  • We have found that the character ones fit better than many other brands.  Like pps said, the Walmart brand ones fit horrible.
  • I have heard oshkosh undies are good for little bums.. I am sure they are $$$ though. My new faves are the just one year by carters ones from target. They are super cute and fit much nicer than the standard charachter undies for little kids and weren't THAT much more than them.

  • Ellie has no butt haha.  I bought the fruit of the loom at walmart as well and they are still big and baggy.  But they stay up.  They are the only undies she knows, so she hasn't complained.  They will probably fit her for another couple years.  Does the baggy-ness just bother you, or her too?  I think as long as they stay up it's not a huge deal.

she refuses to wear them and is pulling at them so that's what made me think the baggy-ness bothered her.  i will head to target tomorrow to check out everyone's suggestions. thanks! (ps sorry for the weird formatting, i'm bumping from my ipod)

  • No idea if boys are different, but any undies that have a made by Handcraft tag on them run SUPER small. At 2 R could not fit into the 2t/3t. Most of the Character undies at all the stores are by this maker. It is in small print on the package, or a tiny tag on the undies themselves.

  • You also might let her try picking which pair she wants to wear.  I have a small basket with DDs undies. If she has an accident - she picks a new pair.  Before getting dressed - she picks a pair.  And even though she still wears a diaper at night she picks a pair to put over her diaper at night.  Maybe getting her "buy-in" will stop her from pulling on them.
