Our nanny is going to start picking up our 3 year old (he's about 34 inches tall and 28 pounds) at school for us. The school is literally two miles down the road from our house so we are looking for an economical car seat. We have 2 britax's (I forget which model), but she doesn't need a $300 model from this simple drive a couple times a week. I don't want to get into switching the seat back and forth every though either. Any recommendations? Not sure exactly how to google that one!
Re: Exra carseat for the nanny?
FWIW, this car seat is on the Top 10 Worst Booster list. It stinks as a harnessed seat, because the harness is outgrown early on (assuming you have the 40lb edition and not the 50lb version) and makes an unsafe booster.
OP, please do not waste your money on that seat. You might look into something like the Evenflo Maestro.

Wow! Well, thanks for making me feel like a completely shitty parent for having this carseat for our daughter.
Also... you do know that not everyone can afford to go out and buy 2+ $300 carseats....
Ok, I've googled and I can't find any Top 10 Worst Booster list. As a matter of fact, while googling, I came across several websites that talk about the safety and convenience of the Safety 1st Alpha Omega Elite.

No one said you were a shitty parent. However, the AOE makes the list year after year. It does not make a good booster seat, and any tech will tell you that. It is fact, that the 40lb harness does not last long either. Most kids outgrow it by 3 before they are ready to move to a regular booster safely. You cannot use this seat (if you have the 40lb limit harness) on the top harness setting either, which most people don't know, because they don't read the manual.
FWIW, I have never paid $200-$300 for a car seat. There are plenty of awesome seats under $150. The Scenera is $40 at most stores, and the Maestro that I recommended is under $80.
Did you look (or ask) for reviews on carseat.org? There are tons of techs on there, and you can search by the name of the seat. There are just way better seats for the money.
This top link discusses the Eddie Bauer 3-n-1 (which is the exact same as the AOE- there are actually 7 seats manufactured under different names) and it basically says it all.....
