Trying to Get Pregnant

Crying my eyes out right now...

I am so f-ing angry right now I could seriously hurt somebody.  Today is CD1 of our 4th cycle.

Dec - DH was out of town for work during my fertile week.

Jan - DH didn't feel well that week, but assured me next month would be it

Feb - DH was out of town during O -- best we could get was O-2.

Mar - JUST found out DH will AGAIN be out of town during my fertile week, with likely 0 chances, since I'll likely O 3 days after he leaves.

And he's not gone that much, it's just always the WRONG week!  It's like his boss is sabotaging our plans for a 2nd child!  And I'm freaking LIVID that DH doesn't do or say somethng to prevent it.  It's not like it's exactly his choice or that he gets to plan these things on his schedule, but I wish he would tell his boss ahead of time that he has family committments during whichever weeks and see if they could plan around it.

  • That just sucks :/ If he doesn't travel far, is there any way you could go visit him for an overnight?

  • I'm really sorry! Is it possible for him to change his work schedule or for you to go with him and stay in a hotel?

  • I'm sorry.  It's so frustrating when you don't even get that chance to try.  Is there anyway he can shuffle the dates a little?

  • Unfortunately, it's 500 miles away, and he may be doing overnight trips from there to visit various sites.  We also have a 20 month old and 2 large dogs, so I can't easily follow him.  I may try to work something out, but it would take a lot of coordinating.  And any time I take off will take away from time I can have off when we DO get preg/have a baby, because my company offers no maternity leave (you just use your accrued sick/vacation time).

At this point, it can't be rescheduled because his company has somebody from Mircosoft coming to teach a course he has to attend.  That's why I'm frustrated with HIM... I feel like if he would have said something to his boss EARLIER, they could have tried to schedule it for a different week.

  • That REALLY sucks.  DH is working nights during my fertile week this month, which means the only time he is awake that week, DD is too... Not the same scenario at all.  We can most likely find a way to work it out.  Just wanted to say I feel for you!
  • While I totally understand the frustration, don't you think having you husband cancel work commitments is a little extreme just so he can stay around while you are ovulating? I think you should focus on the fact that he has a job and that he keeps it! It is not his companies responsibilty to make certain he is around during your fertile window and getting so upset about it will only make things worse for everyone. It sounds like you O regularly so hopefully your chance will happen again!
  • That really sucks, I'm sorry! It is frustrating and I know the feeling...of the 7 cycles we've been TTC, we've only had good timing 3 or 4 due to hubby's work schedule...he always seems to have to work the shifts that cause us to miss one another days on end when I'm most fertile...sigh!

  • Understand your frustration.. My DH travels all week long, only home on the weekends so our chances are much lower than they were when we conceived DD.

Good luck and just hope for the best for now!

  • On the bright side, FF actually says that most people who conceived had sex on O-3 because the prime time to BD is actually before you O. So the month you did it O-2 was actually a very good shot.  And this month you'll have a pretty good shot too.  At least your cycle is consistent!  I couldn't tell you when my fertile week would be at all.

Thanks for the kind thoughts, and you're right... At least I have a pretty regular cycle.  That part is helpful for sure.

Regarding FF, everything I see says that 94% of women who conceive have sex the three days up to AND including O day, which would make O-2, O-1, and O the "3 day window."  You're right that I had a chance this past cycle (with O-2)...  I guess we'll do what we can with the time we have, right?

  • I'm so sorry! I am going through something similar right now... H is always gone. And of course this month he left right before my fertile week.. It really does suck! It's hard to be positive during ttc let alone when they're gone all the time and you have ZERO shot. I know how you feel *hugs*

Ok, sorry! Just kidding! I can't relate. I hope you O a little earlier this cycle so you get to try in the fertile window. Good luck!

  • To qualify for the FMLA mandate, a worker must be employed by a business with 50 or more employees within a 75-mile radius of his or her worksite, or a public agency, including schools and state, local, and federal employers (the 50-employee threshold does not apply to public agency employees and local educational agencies). He or she must also have worked for that employer for at least 12 months (not necessarily consecutive) and 1,250 hours within the last 12 months.

FMLA only holds your position, It doesn't require that they pay you for leave.

  • My point in posting that was to show that FMLA leave isn't required of employers.
