How big is a snack?

Will you give me some exact examples of what your toddlers/preschoolers eat for snacks? - it isn't the types of food I am having trouble with, it is how much.  So, a specific number would be helpful, or just comparing its size to a meal size will work too - a snack is 1/2 as big as a meal? 1/3rd? 1/4th?

Re: How big is a snack?

  • I am finding that the girls are light eaters- at least compared to my friends kids and other family members.  The girls will have a banana for a snack or a 4 oz yogurt.  Or a carrot.  If I'm giving them, say, Annie's bunnies, than they have maybe 20-ish.  For lunch- on a good day Parker will eat a whole sandwich.  On bad days only 1/4 of it.  Rowan is still eating only 1/2 sandwich and is much more consistent than Parker with her eating.    Does that help?

  • Usually a snack is a string cheese, an orange, maybe 5-7 wheat thins and hummus... Definitely less than a meal.
