I'm going to my hospital tour tonight and i'm excited! It's a new building at a very well known hospital and i have been looking forward to checking it out. I'm sure they will cover the basics, but any suggestions on questions I should ask?
If not mentioned, ask for a list of items okay to bring from home. Or if there is a list of items that are not okay to bring from home - hair driers, flat irons etc...
I for one, doubt I'll be caring about physical appearance post labor (lol)while in hospital but others are different.
You can ask if they have a birth plan you can fill out or anything. Mine had a sheet they give you and you can mark down your preferances then you give it to the nurse when you check in so they know what you do and don't prefer. There was a lot of things they had on the sheet I hadn't even thought of before so it was nice to know the options they're open to.

Ask when the prices for the room start. I had my hospital tour a couple nights ago and was shocked to find out it doesn't start when you get there but at midnight. So if I went to the hospital at 8pm I'm paying full price for 4 hrs then at 12am it starts all over again ..... so being in there exactly 24hrs ( till 8pm next day ) would be costing twice as much. I'm from Canada and have hubby's insurance but if I didn't that would make me more stressed than actual labour !
