Will you give me some exact examples of what your toddlers/preschoolers eat for snacks? - it isn't the types of food I am having trouble with, it is how much. So, a specific number would be helpful, or just comparing its size to a meal size will work too - a snack is 1/2 as big as a meal? 1/3rd? 1/4th?
Re: How big is a snack?
Typical snacks for my kids are
1/2 banana and 2-3 strawberries or a handful of blueberries
Yogurt and fruit
1/2 an apple with peanut butter
String cheese and 3-4 crackers
2 handfuls of goldfish or cheez-its
Two food groups. Some favorites include:
Raisins and cheddar cheese (about 10-15 raisins and maybe 2 smaller slices cheese)
Zucchini and chocolate chip cookies
Tortilla and tomatoes (usually salsa spread on a tortilla with a few diced tomatoes)
yogurt and berries
Usually a snack is a string cheese, an orange, maybe 5-7 wheat thins and hummus... Definitely less than a meal.
