Help! Sleep transition...

Baby is close to 8 mos. We co-sleep at night, and I'm happy with that. However, she is still napping in her swing during the day. The swing has a 25 lb. weight limit. She about 20 lbs. now. I want to transition her to the crib for naps, but whenever I lay her down in the crib after nursing to sleep her eyes pop open, her limbs spring out, and she's wide awake. Every time. Any suggestions?

  • Maybe you can put her in the swing but slowly stop the swing motion.  After she's used to being still you can transition easier to the crib.  Or nurse her to sleep for naps in bed and stay with her for a few days so she is used to that.  GL!

  • DD took all naps in her swing when she was younger. We transitioned her to her crib around 4mo, and had the same issue with waking up the second she was laid down. We just picked her back up, rocked/nursed her back to sleep, and put her back down again. Sometimes we'd have to do it 2 or 3 times, others more like 5 or 6. It took a good week or so before she was mostly staying asleep the first time we laid her down, but now she takes all naps in her crib with no problem. (Night time is a different story though).
