Pediatric dentist recs (North/NE) please :(

DD was crawling on the bathroom floor this morning and somehow lost her balance, fell and chipped her front tooth on the ceramic tile.  It's a small chip, but noticeable. there was some bleeding along the gumline afterwards.  I feel so sick to my stomach about it--I want to make sure her tooth is okay.  We need to find a dentist soon to check it out. Any recs would be appreciated. TIA :(

  • I'm sorry! That must have felt horrible. For you and her! We've taken the girls to https://www.littleexplorersdentistry.com/ before and we were very pleased. We'll be taking them to Rising Stars next but that's only because I have a coupon from when they visited Abby's MDO =)

However...There's nothing you (or they) can do. Either the tooth will die or it won't. Nothing is going to prevent that. Watch for signs of infection though because blood means there was some trauma from the tooth to the gumline. You can give Motrin if it appears to be hurting her but pedi or ER for any facial swelling or fever in the next couple of days.

Both my kids have chipped teeth that are just barely noticable and I have absolutely no clue when it happened to either of them. But there are dentists who will repair a chip if you want them to. Keep in mind though there are risks with anesthesia that should be considered, even "laughing gas". I'd avoid sedating a child to have something cosmetic repaired.

Thank you, but Georgetown may be further than I'd like.  We're closer to Mopac and Parmer.

  • We take DD to Dr. Jenny Smiles (https://www.drjennysmiles.com/) and really like her.  It's over by Avery Ranch.

  • Another nestie that lives close to us (and has a toddler) recommended Dr. Has sel in PF, though admittedly no one in our family has been yet...

ditto!  we take both kids here and like it a lot!

  • I go to Rising Stars.  Our first visit was for something similar, and the tooth ended up being dead so had to be pulled.  The dentists there were SO patient and understanding with me (who was freaking out and have my own dentist phobia...DS#1 was a champ) so I can't recommend them enough.

  • Is there anyone who has been to Rising Star & Dr. Jenny? I'd love a recommendation on who to choose between the two?
