Gabe is getting too heavy for me to heft his seat around. We need a convertible. But, there are too many brands. I have no time (or will) to research them. I wish the carseat gods would float down and just tell me which one to buy...

Re: I am overwhelmed by convertible carseats...
Honestly, Katie, this one area for some reason I have researched to death (and you know me well enough to know I don't analyze anything more than necessary!).
All I have learned in my search is:
a) There's way too many damn options and I'm overwhelmed.
b) A carseat is a carseat is a carseat. They all meet the same standards.
I just want one she can be in for 30plus pounds and go from rear facing to forward (basically..all carseats..lol). I need one that's smaller too for the backseat of Hs truck..otherwise his seat hits on it.
I think I'm going with Maxi Cosi. It's what my infant seat is and I love the size and quality of it. They are also on sale on Albee baby. I want to wait a month though. My infant seat is a bit heavy but I like the cover to keep her warm. I'll move her in spring. If Maxi Cosi isn't on sale then..whatever is at Target will be just fine.
I went to a store (don't think they have it in the US, Halfords) that had really knowledgable staff and went through about 5 different brands and asked TONS of questions. The woman we were helped by knew her stuff (I don't think we would have bought one from someone who didn't know much about the seats) and told us about how the staff were trained in seminars about car seats. I narrowed it down to 2 in the store and took both out to our car to try them out. We almost chose a Graco that we liked, but we ended up going with a Britax carseat because it reclined farther (we go on lots of long car rides where Saoirse needs to sleep) and she just looked cozier in it. It had great reviews by consumer reports and a magazine here called Which that compares proucts (I don't trust random reviews on the internet).
I say go to a store and find someone who works there who knows their sh!t. Try them out in your car and put your baby in them. It also helps that the woman who helped us had bought the same one for her kid, which I trusted because she said she also had the same infant seat that we did and I know I chose that one carefully too.
Good luck! I know it's overwhelming.
We just got the Britax Marathon 70 because it goes up to 70 pounds and I do NOT want to have to think about car seats again for a while...lol!
We had to get a Combi Corroco for my car (a Ford Fiesta hatchback) because it's super compact, but it only goes up to 40 lbs...so I guess we will have to think about something else once she outgrows that one. Hopefully not for a while though!
We got this one at BRU:

We made the switch at least a month ago, she is so much happier and more comfy in her new seat
! I really like this one. I spent some time researching, but it was all overwhelming, I ended up with an Evenflo because my brother and SIL use one for my niece and really like it. It met all of my requirements and was reasonably priced.
We have two Evenflo Triumphs and love them. Excellent reviews, easy to install and adjust, and DD says its really comfy. If we buy another we will go with that or the Evenflo Momentum.
Just remember that most carseats are only good for six years so if you plan to use it for multiple children you still might have to buy another depending on spacing.
