I've been ebf this whole week (milk came in on day two). However DS was born at 38w4 days and was little (compared to my first kid) 6lbs 10oz. He's up every 2-2.5 hrs eating and then will only sleep on me. In the intervals that he wakes up he's constantly rooting for boob. My boobs don't feel full at all and I was thinking my supply sucks bc we're only getting like 1-2 hrs of sleep per day. Long story short, I just pumped for 20 min and got 1.7 oz from both. I'm wondering if this could be what he's taking per feeding at this age ( he's 7 days) or if maybe I was right and I'm under producing.

Re: How many oz of bm is your one week old taking?
DS is eating about 2 oz of EBM per feeding. Sometimes he's still sucking when he's done, but one of the nurses at the hospital told me that sometimes babies will do that, even if they're not hungry. If he cries when he's done, then he's probably still hungry, but if he's just sucking, he may just want to suck. Having him suck on your finger or a pacifier may be just fine to satisfy.
i have an 8 day old---
my BM is flowing very very quickly---after feedings, i pump 12oz in about 10 minutes. baby eats for anywhere between 6 and 20 minutes every 2-3 hours, and obviously i can't measure how much she's taking, but she doesn't show signs of hunger. we go through about 18 diapers a day--some wet only, some wet with poopy, some poopy only.
