Environmental allergies??

Does anyone have a LO with environmental allergies? DS had what i thought was a cold at about 1-2 weeks old.  It never did seem to bother him very much- no fever.  He did have a cough and frequent sneezing.  When we took him to the pedi then, he said that the first thing that will happen when infants are sick is they will stop or decrease eating.  He never did that and his lungs sounded good, so he just said to watch it.  Well fast forward to now (DS will be 6 weeks old on Friday) and he still has the frequent sneezing, runny nose/congestion and an occasional cough.  He also has very watery eyes now, so bad they glue themselves closed.  I called the pedi about the eyes a few weeks ago when that symptom first started but they said it is probably clogged tear ducts.  I have been doing warm compresses and massaging the tear ducts like he said but it doesn't seem to have helped at all... He still has had no fever throughout all of this.  I am beginning to wonder if he is having allergy problems and never did have a cold.  DH had allergies so badly when he was little that he had 15 shots twice a week for awhile.  DS's don't seem anywhere near that bad at this point but I was just curious if anyone else has an older child or any experience with infant allergies not related to food.  Was there anything you did that seemed to help?  I am having a hard time pin pointing what the allergy could be to- lots of levels have been high here recently and we also have pets... We have been doing saline nasal drops and using a humidifier.  Anything else I am missing that would help?  Thanks!
