Intro....and, is anyone taking acid reflux meds while TTC?

Hey girls,

I just wanted to introduce myself and say we are planning to try for a second child next month. I recently came off a 6 month forced wait due to a Molar Pregnancy last June.

Well, somehow I've managed to come down with gastritis and acid reflux (probably from stressing over the Molar) and dr. wants to put me on Prevacid or Nexium for 3 months to heal my stomach. He says that either of these meds are safe to take while TTC and during pregnancy, but I'd love to hear if anyone has any real experience with this. Do any of you currently take these meds or have you in the past?

    First off welcome!! And I take Prilosec for acid reflux  and my DH and I have been TTC for a year now.  My doctor says while TTC it is fine and at a low dose will be fine during pregnancy but I can have the option to find a different one as well.

    I'm currently on Prilosec, but my Dr plans to switch me to Prevacid once I get pregnant if I still need to continue on the meds.

    I don't have any personal experience, but Nexium and Prevacid are both pregnancy category B, so should be pretty safe.  Welcome and GL!!
    imageMy Chart TTC since June 2011. BFP#1 5/9/12 EDD 1/19/13 MMC @ 9w3d D&E 6/25/12. Met with RE 12/2012 - Dx PCOS. 1/2013 Clomid 100mg + HCG trigger + TI = BFP#2!! Due 10/22/13! FX this little bean sticks!

    I threw away my lists of safe meds for pregnancy, but they were several on it for acid reflux.

    I am on 30 mg of prevacid daily, and my gynecologist gave me the okay to keep using the prevacid.  I can't imagine going off of it!  I also happen to have a follow up with my GI Md the first week in march so I will ask him as well.

    I'm on a prescription, and my gastro has said it is fine to take while pregnant...I wouldn't stress...
    PCOS 
    Off bcp March 2011 
    Aug 2011-Feb 2012 tried to regulate cycles w/ Metformin -- no luck 
    April 2012: Clomid (50mg) + Injects + TI = BFN
    May 2012: Clomid (100mg) + Injects + TI = BFP on 6/8/12
