I swear he cries bloody murder even as I just begin to put him into burping position. It makes me feel terrible. I wish I could communicate to him that it's for his own good and he'll feel much better after he burps.
Sigh.

DS sometimes screams when we burp, usually when he's still hungry. Have you tried any other burping positions? (sitting up in you lap with your hand supporting his chin or laying on his tummy across your lap.)
Just within the last week, DS has become a burping screamer. As soon as I try to put him over my shoulder, he wails like he has been injured. If I have him sit in my lap and bend forward slightly, he doesn't scream, but he doesn't seem to get as much out, either.
My little guy hates the over the shoulder position too. I have to put one hand cradling the back of his head (very gently holding it still) while the other pats his back. I never thought to try tummy-down, thanks!
