I've read good things about it on the yahoo group austin ed (one word). I can't remember which campus though but I remember checking out the info on the NW one and being impressed!
I have met with the owner several times but because they were offering me a directors position there (this was 3 years ago) but that was a while ago. I can say that the owner is very hands on and it is meticulously ran with incredibly high standards. If I were to live closer I would send my kids there in a heartbeat.
you already know this but a close friend of mine's kids go there and she has spent lots of time there and has all good things to say. very unstructured, hippie dippie, lots of loving on the kids and letting them explore.
I spent quite a bit of time there when I was working--doing hearing screenings, seeing kids for speech therapy, etc. Mollie's assessment is correct. In fact, I remember one kid was running around naked because he didn't feel like wearing clothes at that particular moment. Overall, I think it's absolutely fantastic. I love a lot about it. The one thing I'd want to make sure of (and that I'm unsure about since I was only there in the mornings), is that there is a structured naptime. (I say that bc it's important to ME as a parent, might not be a big deal for others.)
Yep, definitely on the hippie side. A lot of my prof friends send their kids to the Hyde Park one and love it. What about Jardin de ni?os? It's southwest AND Spanish immersion! My pediatrician had her kids there and loved it. That would also put A in the perfect position to attend one of the dual immersion elementary programs that are popping up and generating a lot of excitement. Viva bilingual ed!
