I just realized that I don't actually know how much a fingertip is. I was to excited on Friday that he said I was dilated to ask him to elaborate. Did my doctor say a fingertip because it isn't a cm yet? Or will they not start doing cm until you're in labor?
And... she just got done moving up a storm... then I could see my belly just start throbbing. It isn't hiccups... she gets those all the time. This is more of a smooth, continuous movement. It's fairly fast... anyone else have this happen? It's a first for me.
Re: Does a fingertip mean 1 cm... and belly throbbing?
That's what I thought. I guess you know what they say about people that assume...
It depends on the finger! I don't trust measurements, since everyone's hands are different sizes! I swear I got a ton of different measurements last time in the hospital around the shift change.
Annnnd...the throbbing could be your LO practice breathing. It doesn't hurt, but their torso just rises and falls rhythmically.
That sounds right... she has been VERY active today and probable wedged into the right spot! It's a very weird experience.
That is very true. Maybe that's why he didn't really elaborate more! My doctor is very "you never know what could happen" kinda guy. I can see him not wanting to say anything to get me excited. I guess it doesn't really matter until the big day comes anyways...
This is a visual guide my doula gave me. Is it bad the bagel scares me?!
I like this! The bagel scares me too... we can just be scared together!
As a point of reference the average female?s finger is 1.3cm while that of the average male is 1.7cm just for your information. A piece of cheerio cereal is about as close to 1cm in size as you can get. HTH in giving perspective to what you ask. All measurements which your doctor refers to are always in cm.
