Breast Pump?

*I posted this on the breastfeeding board also*

I am thinking about purchasing a new breast pump.  I currently have a Lansinoh double electric and have been having issues with my supply.  I have tried several things to help improve my supply but I am starting to think my pump is just crappy!

What pumps do you ladies have?  I EP and work fulltime so I need something that will get a lot of use!

TIA!

Re: Breast Pump?

  • I have the ever popular Medela PISA. I work full time and pump 3 times a day and have no complaints. I haven't tried anything else so I can't compare it to anything, but I'm happy enough that I have no desire to try anything else.

This. In the beginning, I was pumping every 2 hours, then 3, then 4...until I got to 3x/day. The thing is still working great!

  • I have had the Medela PISA from the start, but I've still got supply issues.  I only produce between 6 and 10 ounces per day over 2-3 pump sessions while at work.

No amount of herbs, water, or food has seemed to make a difference.  I recently learned that my mother had supply issues with my sister and I beginning around 3-4 months, and so did her mother.  I think for me it's just a genetic thing.  We can nurse and produce milk, just not very much of it.  When my daughter was 2 or 3 months old it was not an issue as 3 3-ounce bottles were sufficient for daycare, but now that she needs about 5 ounces per bottle I can't keep up with her demand.

I'm sure if I was a SAHM and was exclusively nursing I would not even be aware of the issue.  It sucks sometimes to constantly see your ability as a mother measured in output of ounces of breastmilk over the course of a pumping session.
