This is mostly a vent, but I am curious what others do.
LO is not terribly fussy today, but she has NOT.napped.at.all. Mama is a little tired. I would like a nap. I don't think it's going to happen. My question is this, other than today she has pretty consistently fallen asleep in the morning for 30 minutes and then a longer 1 hour stretch if we got up early, then she usually sleeps most of the afternoon until 3:30. Would you rock little one or otherwise try to 'force' them to sleep if they don't fall asleep on their own (usually after feeding or while doing some chores while I carry her) or would you just let her be if she's not fussy?
Re: Naps
My LO will NOT sleep during the day unless he is "forced". I look for some cues of tiredness or I do it after a feeding if he's been awake more than 2 1/2 - 3 hours. I swaddle him up, bounce or rock, give paci - put in bassinet with sound machine on - and walk away. I will go back if he starts crying and repeat for up to an hour - then I give up on a formal nap. It took about 4 tries today - over about 45 min. - but he finally feel asleep and has been out now for over an hour.
I think he sleeps better at night if he gets real naps in during the day.
