Any of you ladies going to one? My back has been killing me lately (I think it might be worse since I'm a server) so I've been going to the chiropractor for about two weeks now and it seems to be helping. I'm really weird with people touching me, other than my boyfriend :P, and I wanted to know if it was normal for chiropractors to put their hands under your clothes? I've never been to one and today he adjusted my pelvic bones so he put his hand down my pants and under my underwear and it made me really uncomfortable. My mom's never had to have her pelvic bones adjusted so she didn't know if this was normal or not and I just wanted to see if it is normal and if I'm just being weird about it. Ha thanks ladies.
Re: Chiropractor?
I see a chiro once in a while as my back has been hurting a lot toting around a toddler and being pregnant.
To answer your question though, no my chiro has never put his hands under my clothing to do any adjustments and I have had my pelvic bone adjusted many times. I would be very uncomfortable as well as I don't think that's normal. My chiro can even adjust any part of me even with baggy pants and a thick hoodie on. I'm sure it's easier with a t-shirt or something but there is NO reason to ever put their hands under your clothing, especially your underwear.
I'd find someone else.
I DO NOT think this is normal. Does this chiropractor have any superiors? I would maybe call the Health Department as well about this.
My chiropractor had me leave my clothes on and does not go any further south than my tailbone for anything. Also does not go under my clothes for any reason.
This is just my experience, but I have never heard of this happening with anyone else.

BFP#2: 8/25/13, EDD 5/4/14, MMC confirmed on 9/23/13, D&C on 9/26/13
BFP#3: 2/3/14, EDD 10/15/14, fraternal TWINS confirmed 2/21/14, two BOYS confirmed on 4/15/14!
That would make me uncomfortable too, particularly the under the underwear part. I've never had a pelvic adjustment so I don't know what's normal but my chiro always asks before he puts his hands anywhere "personal" (I think under my shirt on my lower back is the most "personal" place he's touched).
I I agree with pps that this sounds weird. Find a new chiro!
I go to the chiropractor once a month and have been for a few years.
Never once have I had any of them touch me under any article of clothing. I would definitely report him.
What he did was completely inappropriate. I would not waste a second of my time or another dollar on this "professional". Find someone else. I'd probably even take it further and report him.
Ok thank you so much, at least now I know that its not me. I should have known because I didn't see why that was necessary and usually when I think something isn't right it isn't. This just sucks because my back has been feeling better ha, I just hope someone else takes my insurance.
I am sure you will find another to accept your insurance. I certainly wouldn't go to one who is molesting me. I find this very inapprorpriate and would report him. Mine has never went under any of my clothing.

IT'S A GIRL
Just read this one, it is NOT your fault. The fact that he said he was touchy-feeling is even stranger to me. Like he thinks because he says that he can do what he wants. NOT ok. It's up to you if you report, but he could be adjusting children and they don't usually argue with Doctors. Not sure how to go about it, I would call the police.
Also, even if your insurance doesn't cover a Dr. you want to see, the out-of pocket expense for this is not usually too bad. I pay my Dr. $40 an appointment without insurance.
It is NOT your fault. That is the worst part about something like this, is that it makes the person who has done nothing wrong feel guilty while the creeper who is busy being a creep is off somehwhere congratulating himself. We are programmed to trust doctors and other professionals, and sometimes even when our spidey senses are tingling we ignore our intuition because hey, they're the professional, and what do we know? We've all been there in some form or another.
Please don't feel bad. You have done nothing wrong!!
Call your state chiropractic licensing board. I live in Canada and each province has a chiropractic association (i.e., "Ontario Chiropractic Association"). I think it should be the same in the States.
Thank you so much
. I feel a lot better hearing from all of you ladies and being able to talk to my boyfriend now that he's out of class. I already made an appointment with another chiropractor and I'm going to tell him what happened at the last place just to make sure to get that cleared up. So hopefully this doctor isn't a creep. Another thing that sucks is that a co worker is the one who referred him to me ha.
That does not seem normal to me. I had severe pelvic issues that lasted from 24w PG to 9 months post-partum that required intense chiro care and pelvic PT. Even in addressing my pelvic ligaments (namely the one right in between the legs) no chiro ever touched me there. I saw several chiros--three of them would work on my pelvis via my back or from the bottom of my feet; one would explain to me how to do the adjustment and touch my back while I applied the pressure my own pelvic area. That one also would adjust my pelvis using a tool applied to the area and over my clothes. At all of them, they also use the part of the table that raises up and drops to adjust the pelvis.
In pelvic PT there was extensive manipulation of the pelvic area, but it was always done with a gloved hand, explanation of everything going on, and she would always ask for my permission and encourage me to decline anything that I didn't like.
Perhaps this chiro has some less-than-mainstream method (giving wayyy more of the benefft of the doubt that may apply), but the bottom line is that you didn't feel comfortable with what he did or his communication about it (or lackthereof), and you don't ever have to go back. You owe him nothing. If you still want to continue your care, I encourage you to find another chiro who specializes in pregnancy.
