..when people talk sh!t about cd'ing? I've gotten so frustrated lately because it feels like that's all people do is put it down.
I don't understand why other people think they have a choice about what I put on my kids butt. I'm the one who does all the work, not them. Sometimes I think people just like to fight about stupid things. Not that it's stupid. I would fight over it if I had to. I'm just sick of other people.
How do you mamas handle people like this?
Re: does it ever annoy you..
I was just at a party this past weekend and one of the buys there was talking trash about CDing. The host was pg and is planning on CDing. I pulled her aside later and told her that everything he said was wrong, and not to listen to him
Everyone has their own opinion, you can't change everyone's mind about CDing. I just roll my eyes and let them complain.

I roll my eyes, mostly because they're completely wrong.
CDing isn't the first, last, or most annoying thing people will try to tell you that you're wrong about, so get used to ignoring people.
I get annoyed when people get all grossed out like they are the dirtiest thing in the world, especially when I tell them we wash them at home. Look, a little soap and hot water is all you need.
The only static we get is from people who think it's bizarre that we don't use a diaper service...
Honestly cloth diapering is really common around here. Everyone does it, it seems.
This! Although as much as my family criticizes, we did get quite a few cloth diapers from them as gifts at my shower.
I think a lot of people still think cloth diapers are what our grandmothers/mothers used.
My family is supportive there are two of us who CD and its not uncommon in my area to know others who CD as well. One of my mothers groups has all babies in CD.
Just tell people its what you are doing and change the subject. Or tell them to check out the new advances in CD since 10 years ago.
I just dealt with this tonight from my FIL. He rolled his eyes when I mentioned LO's cloth diapers and said we were probably paying tons more for water now washing all these expensive diapers. Arg. I have said before that we calculated the water costs before we decided to CD and I'm aware of the cost and it still saves us money especially since we plan on using these diapers with future babies. He then shook his head like he didn't think I knew what I was talking about.... RRRRR!
Ummm, yes! Thank you. It has become so annoying, I don't even tell people about it anymore unless they ask. But it doesn't help that my FIL & MIL make comments about it EVERY time I see them.

My MIL gave me the side eye when I told her we were CDing. She will have Grandma day once per week after I go back to work and I told her if she doesn't want to use an easy cloth diaper then baby will wear disposables for a day with her. I explained that it's different than 30 years ago when her kids were in diapers. Apparently she had a hard time when her first two sons were born, they were 13 months apart and she had no washer or dryer at home so CDing was challenging for her.
I'd rather save money now knowing we can re-use these diapers or re-sell later; as well as not running out of diapers at night. I've spent about $300 so far on my stash but I think it's better than the $1500 average that one can spend the first year or two.
