Parenting after a Loss

Molly Bears

Have you ladies heard of this non-profit?  Someone mentioned it on the 12-24 board and I think it is a really sweet idea.  Good idea for the next sunshine mission.

Re: Molly Bears

  • They are really really cute too.  The women that I know from the LOSS board LOVE theirs.  I thought about applying to get one for Kam but I think a 19 lb bear might be a little extreme...

  • The only problem with doing them for a sunshine mission is the wait time to get them is really long. I think it's 6 months to a year before you actuallly get the bear.

Yup. I've been waiting over a year for mine. I'm still on the wait list and it will probably be another year. I think someone said they donated money and got theirs sooner.

Yeah, if you donate $90 today you'll get it before April. They have a FB page and seem to run that 'special' every month.

  • $90 seems like a lot... does she actually make the stuffed animal too, or does she just get one from the store, put rice in it and then embellish it?  It seems to me like she needs to get other volunteers to help her in different states so ladies aren't waiting so long.

I did not have a late loss, but I would imagine going home with one from the hospital or having it at least 1-2 weeks after would be nice....

  • They have over 2,000 people on their waiting list. From what she's been postimg, they only expect to make 500-600 bears this year. They work by donation only. I imagine it isn't cheap to make the bears. They take donations of any amount and do a drawing every $150 donated for another to get bumped to the top of the list. I agree that $90 is a lot, but for those waiting it may be worth it.

  • It would be nice if she could branch out with help from other loss moms and each one work a specific area, like in their region and then make them for the women that have a loss at that hospital.  As it would be far less busy.  And then have a group of sya 5-10 women run the website orders and mail in stuff.
