She refuses to have her arms in the blanket when we swaddle her. Just wondering if this is pretty common or if maybe we should really try harder to do a full body swaddle when we put her down?
Any suggestions or affirmations that it is ok?
BTW, I missed this board! I haven't posted or read in a while... ![]()
Re: Swaddle question...DD hates it!
I guess some babies just don't like it...My SIL was just telling me her first baby loved it and her second baby hated it. She kept trying and trying before she realized her DD was just not a fan...
My little guy loves to be swaddled, but his arms are almost always out. We have a couple of those "swaddle me" bodysuit things with velco closures, that's pretty much the only way his arms will stay put. One of them is all white and it looks like a baby straight jacket, but he does seem to really enjoy it. He also loves being in the moby wrap. If he is majorly fussy and too tired to sleep, we put him in the moby and he falls asleep instantly.
My friend's daughter hated her arms being swaddled, too, so they would swaddle the rest of her. I think she used her hands to self-soothe, so it worked out for both of them. I'm pretty sure it's legal to just swaddle her from the armpits down. :-)

This is what we did with our first daughter. She hated to be swaddled, so we just made sure she was swaddled from the armpits down to keep warm and put mittens on her hands so she didn't scratch her face up. Simple solution!
